Week 5 Recap

Happy Good Friday everyone,

Hoping everyone is having a great week so far. A friendly reminder, that we are
off this Sunday for Easter. Praying you enjoy the time at church and with your
families.

For our weekly encouragement we have a special guest appearance from the captain
of Matt and the Missed Opportunities, Mr. Matt Holmes. Thanks Matt for your
willingness to share with us this week.

Weekly Encouragement:

Hey guys!

I hope you’ve been enjoying Season 12 so far. Playing with you each week is a
highlight for me, and I’m grateful for the friendships that have come from it.

As we head into Easter, I want to encourage you to take some time this week to
reflect on what we’re celebrating this Sunday, the most important day of the
year for us as Christians- the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus.

Here are a couple of great verses to meditate on:

Matthew 28:6

“He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he
lay.”

John 11:25-26

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me,
though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me
shall never die. Do you believe this?'”‘

Because Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, just as He said He would, we
can have eternal life through faith in Him.

This Easter, make it a priority to get to church, spend time with loved ones,
and keep your focus on Christ’s resurrection, the foundation of our Christian
faith.

Grateful for you all and looking forward to seeing you back on the court!

Week 6 Schedule (4/12):
* 5:30pm – Tyler’s Heroes vs. Cloudy with a Chance of Airballs (Justin Time:
Ethan Silguero, Ryan Holmes, Jonathan Forte)
* 6:30pm – Balling for God vs. Justin Time (Goon Squad: Kristen Brummett,
Kailen Green, Tony Stepanyan)
* 7:30pm – Goon Squad vs. Noah’s Arc (Balling for God: Fawaz Shakeel, Tyler
Sewell, Johnathan Cabral)

Weekly Shoutouts:
* Our league leading scorers for the week were Joey Zoller and Collin Moffatt
with 24 points each.
* Noah Andrade and Joshua Antee made sure no one else in their game could get a
rebound as they combined for 24 rebounds total, Noah pulling down 13 of those
to lead the league again this week.
* Collin Moffatt led the league in steals again this week with 4.
* Finally, we had a three way tie for assist leaders with Michael Manthorp,
Jackson Thompson, and Caleb Taufi each recording 3.

Weekly Recap:
* Our opener this week featured Balling for God bouncing back after a tough
loss last week. Joey Zoller put up a valiant effort (24 points, 10 rebounds)
in an attempt to end the team’s losing streak. However, Matt
and the Missed Opportunities were not able to contend with the youth of
Balling for God. Balling for God had the majority of their players score in
double digits with team captain Ryno Moore leading the way with a solid stat
line of 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 steal.  Final score was 65-51.
* Goon Squad started hot and never looked back to coast to an easy victory over
Justin Time. Goon Squad played well defensively, keeping all Justin Time
players to single digit scoring. Solid performances from Kailen Green (8
points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks), Ryan Lambert (11 points, 1 steal),
and Collin Moffatt (24 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals) helped
Goon Squad continue their winning streak. Final score 65-51.
* Noah’s Arc now appears to be clicking on all cylinders as they are showing
the ability to combine their height with solid three point shooting. This
week featured double-doubles from both Noah Andrade (12 points, 13 rebounds)
and Joshua Antee (14 points, 11 rebounds). The team as a whole combined for
14 assists, highlighting either the team’s efforts to share the ball or the
stat keepers efforts to record the assists. Final score of our last game of
the day was 71-52.
