Happy Tuesday!
Hopefully you all had a chance to catch Kai and Kasey on the stream. If not, the VoD is on Twitch for another week and is on YouTube as well. Sorry to the Knights and SJ96 teams, as we probably missed commenting on 90% of the game. This coming week should feature Justin and Mady on our livestream!

Beach Day
Macie and Josh LePenske have informed me that they are planning a beach day June 1st at Corona Del Mar! They will be arriving at 10am at lifeguard station 3. There’s no official end time so feel free to stay as long as you’d like. Make sure to bring your own food/drinks. If you’re interested let me know! I won’t be there unfortunately, but it should be a good time.
Week 3 Recap:
- Ryno Moore managed to narrowly snatch the scoring crown from his teammate, and perennial scoring champion, Nathan Brummett, cashing in on 22 points on 77% shooting!
- Despite shooting 2/11 from inside the arc, Ryan Holmes led all shooters with 5 made baskets from deep
- Tyler Bernth pulled down 10 rebounds to lead all players to go along with 12 points and 4 assists
- Michael Manthorp had his goggles on Sunday, tallying 4 assists in a tough matchup
- Without Sawyer McKenzie to defend his title, Nathan Saedi welcomed players to the block party, with 3 rejections
- His nonstop motor was on full display, as Zack Pierce one-upped his steal total from last week, with 6!
- The J’s were able to grab their first victory of the season despite only making 1 shot from behind the arc! It was a close game that came down to some clutch free throws from Collin Day and a clutch block from Jacob Heuges. They were able to rally back after being down by almost 20 points to snatch victory from the depleted Run team who were without their captain. Ryan Holmes and Zack Pierce looked like they were going to lead their team to victory with several 3s and fast break points, but their hot shooting cooled off in the second half and they were unable to stem the tide of easy buckets from inside from the J’s
- The Knights continue their dominating season 9 run by steamrolling the SJ96 behind a combined 43 points from Nathan Brummett and Ryno Moore. Both captains played a physical game against each other, with Jacob Brummett “winning” the matchup by dislocating Ricky Dorn’s pinky finger. Justin Philobos reset the pinky mid game and Ricky was able to tough it out and play through the pain for the rest of the game. SJ96 had 4 players with 10 or more points, but they weren’t able to pull off the upset.
- Team StK is now the only team without a win, as they battled on the court without their captain. Kai Husen probably regrets his top draft pick, as Brandon Porras shows up less than Kawhi Leonard for the season. Despite leading the league in total rebounds (40), they couldn’t overcome the offensive onslaught from Pierson Taylor and Carlos Martinez. It’s worth noting that Justin Philobos has managed to avoid getting a tech for the last 3 seasons despite playing a game with his favorite ref Tom.
- Interesting stats of the week: 3 teams ended with a total of exactly 36 rebounds. As a league, we made 117/256 2pt attempts, which is the highest total for the season.
