Week 5 Recap

Happy Wednesday!

Jacob needed a break so I will be resuming the weekly email duties. It seemed
like everyone was busy this past weekend with 4 teams following in
the Mavs’/Phillies’ footsteps, so I’m interested to see how many people show up
for the games this week. 👀

Stat Leaders:
* Brandon Cunningham set a season high 38 points to lead all scorers on week 5
to go along with 7 made from deep (also a season high)
* His teammate Marquis Hogue follows up by leading all rebounders with 13
boards
* Dean Landeros scratches the weekly highlights by cashing in on 6 assists!
* Ryno Moore is a familiar name in this list (except when Jacob does the
emails) for leading the league in steals, taking the ball away “10” times to
go along with 11 rebounds and 13 points… I’m going to give him an official
triple double shout out, but one of the slashes on his steals box looks
different than the others.
* Justin Philobos gets to follow that stat line with a lead leading 2
rejections

Weekly Recap:
* This is the 2nd week in a row that He Is Rizzen has shown up a little short
handed. They were able to pull off the win despite missing some players
behind some great shooting from 3pt shooting by Quintan Coleman (5/13) and
Anthony Holloway was able to hit 4 FTs which ended up being the point
differential at the end of the game. Each week, it’s a competition to see who
our favorite ref hates the most, and this week it was Jason Turner who is the
second player to foul out this season. Will Ol’ Dogs New Tricks get a win
this season? They don’t have many chances left before following in the
footsteps of Prodigal Suns and Luna from last season.
* 99 Problems remains the only undefeated team in the league, cruising to
a 69-56 victory over Airballers Anonymous. Their team currently leads the
league in PTS, 2PM, 3PM, 3PA Rebounds, Assists, and Blocks. Justin
Philobos followed up his shot attempt-less performance from last week by
going 3/10 from the field and 1/2 from the charity stripe, but he did fill
the rest of the stat sheet up with 9 Reb, 4 Ast, 3 Stl, 2 Blk. Very Draymond
Green-esque. Nathan Brummett also had a stellar game with 33 points, 11 Rebs,
and 5 Ast to go along with 1 missed dunk (still the leader in missed dunks in
our league). Honorable mention to Ethan Silguero for hitting 5/6 from deep!
Joshua Hefferan led his team with 16 points, but they definitely missed the
scoring punch from Tim and Joey. Shout out to me for doing stats for both
teams.
* I didn’t stay for the last game, so this will be mainly extrapolation, but it
was a close game between the Dorns in my Side and Energizer Bunnies. Brandon
Cunningham took the most shot attempts in a game for the season, so that may
have factored into the narrow victory and his season high in points. Steven
Kim played much better for his own team than the team he subbed for
(sabotage?!), hitting 85.7% of his field goals. Both Tyler Bernth and Tyler
Sewell scored in double digits (20 and 17), but it wasn’t enough to get the
win. The stats sheets seemed a little lacking in considering the amount of
shots attempted and points scored, but I’m not pointing any fingers.
