Week 4 Recap
Good morning everyone,
We are now approaching two weeks left in the regular season. Hopefully, everyone
is enjoying the season so far. Thanks again, Kevin, for all you do to make this
league happen twice a year.
Weekly Thought:
So, this week I thought I would write about the power of micro-moments. It seems
to me that human nature’s tendency is to focus on the big moments such as the
big game, party, work conference, or just living for the weekend in general. We
can easily get so caught up in jumping from one big moment to the next that we
lose out on the small moments that actually matter.
I tend to do this because I don’t always feel like the small moments matter.
Life can seem to be about what we deem as the big moments and the smaller ones
are just filler until the next big one. However, I don’t know about you but I
know that for me in seasons of my life where I have acted more like this are
times I look back on with the most regret.
“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they
were the big things” Robert Brault
I really resonate with this quote. I have found myself wishing that I could go
back in time to tell myself to be present in those small moments. Whether it be
to stay disciplined in the small habits working towards my physical, spiritual,
financial, or emotional health or just focusing on enjoying something that
wasn’t a “huge moment”. I know that I would look back on my life with much less
regret if I had been better at that.
Similar to last week, my ongoing challenge for myself is to cultivate a present
mind where I am focused on each moment as it comes instead of losing out on my
current moment in hopes of a better future one.
And for those of us who are Christians, we seek to follow the example of Jesus.
The more I learn about the way of Jesus, the more I see that he was never in a
hurry, always present where his feet were, and treated every moment with
intentionality. I am nowhere near this, however this is where I aspire to be.
Week 5 Schedule:
* 5:30 PM – Ol’ Dogs and New Tricks vs. He is Rizzen
* 6:30 PM – 99 Problems vs. Airballers Anonymous
* 7:30 PM – Energizer Bunnies vs. Dorns In My Side
* Bye Week – Underdogish
Weekly Stat Leaders:
* Brandon Cunningham took back the title as leading scorer this week with 31,
just barely beating Anthony Holloway’s 30-point game.
* Trevor Couch looked like Denis Rodman out there, grabbing 20 rebounds to go
along with 11 points for yet another double-double.
* Justin Philobos nearly double-doubled without taking a shot? He hauled in 10
rebounds to go along with 7 assists to help his team to victory.
Weekly Recap:
* Dorns in My Side dominated He is Rizzen’s depleted squad with a 26-point
victory. Brandon Cunningham and Anthony Holloway traded buckets throughout
the game, but the additional scoring support from Brandon’s teammates proved
the difference. For He is Rizzen, 43 out of the teams, 49 points were scored
by Anthony and captain Ryno Moore. Final score 75-49.
* Underdogish was able to get their second win this week over Airballers
Anonymous. Airballers Anonymous started the game shooting well but could not
sustain the effort. Underdogish was able to outlast the initial attack of
Airballers Anonymous, make some adjustments, and slowed the pace of the game
down so captain Jacob Brummett could keep up. Final score 55-46.
* 99 Problems continued their winning streak with a 14-point win over Ol’ Dogs
and New Tricks, who at the same time continued their losing streak. Captain
Aaron Slack put up a valiant effort but could not overcome the talent of 99
Problems, which seems to be a running theme this season. 99 Problems will
look to close out their regular season next week with a win over Airballers
Anonymous to secure that coveted first-round bye-week. Final score 69-56.
