Week 6 Recap

Happy Tuesday,

Thank you to everyone who showed up to the dinner tonight! It was great to chat
and hang until the power went out…

With the “pre-season” over, it’s time for us to head into the Playoffs. Having
clinched 1st place, 99 Problems but a Swish Ain’t One gets another bye for the
first week of playoffs. As a reminder it is single elimination, but the two
“highest ranked” losing teams will get an extra game. Now that we’re in the
playoffs, there will be no substitutions allowed. Please find the game schedule
below (it looks strangely similar to week 6 games…):

5:30 PM He is Rizzen vs. Underdogish
Airballers Anonymous – Timothy, Greg, Joey

6:30 PM Airballers Anonymous vs. Energizer Bunnies
Dorns In My Side – Marquis, Steven, Brandon

7:30 PM Ol’ Dogs and New Tricks vs. Dorns In My Side
Energizer Bunnies – Zack, Collin, Jeff Bohrer

Stat Leaders:
* Tyler Sewell dropped a 50 point bomb to set Crossroads basketball history in
points scored in a game going an efficient 65.6% from the field and 53.3%
from deep, leading the league with 8 3pts made as well. Sheeeesh
* Marquis Hogue followed up by last week’s leading performance with 18
rebounds, barely eking out teammate Brandon Cunningham’s 17 rebounds
* Tyler Bernth had an easy night of assists, tallying 7 which were mostly off
Tyler Sewell’s leak outs
* Ryno Moore is our lead thief for a 2nd week in a row (and there was no funky
business this time) nabbing the ball 4 times
* Ethan Spence lead the league in blocks, with 2 rejections
* Special shoutouts to Dean Landeros for leading the league in total fouls
committed with 15 and Jeff Daggett for finally making an appearance right
before playoffs

Weekly Recap:
* The Energizer Bunnies got off to a hot start, and kept their foot on the gas
to defeat the Airballers Anonymous. Tyler Sewell had a 26 point for half, and
his cheer section encouraged him to go for the league record in scoring,
which he was kind enough to oblige. His last 3 pointer to put him at 50
points was insane (Ricky, looking at you for that highlight). There was a
solid rebounding effort from the rest of the team, with Tyler Bernth and
Nathan Saedi pulling down 13 boards, and Collin Day grabbing 12 boards. The
stats keepers decided to keep track of Turnovers, so Collin gets the rare
award of leading the league in turnovers with 4. Dean Landeros posted a
respectable 24pt/10reb “double double”. Again in quotes because there may
have been some post-game editing involved. Shout out to Greg Ellingson for
having a 4:40 2pt attempt to 3pt attempt ratio to conclude the regular
season. The next closest ratio is Quintan Coleman with 4:25.
* He Has Rizzen was taken down by UnderdogISH behind their best shooting
performance from deep as a team by far, hitting 13/24. It was a slow start
for both teams, taking over 3 minutes before the first basket was made. Ryan
Holmes made 6/10 and was supported by his teammate and best friend Ethan
Spence who made 4/6. Trevor Couch stole a rebound from his Captain, but it
didn’t help him repeat his 20 rebound performance from last week, and he
ended with 11. Anthony Holloway leads all shooters from behind the arc, in
attempts, with 65. Perhaps he should give some attempts to Tobias Coleman who
has a league leading 60% from behind the arc. Ryno’s team lead the league in
3pt attempts (161) and also lead the league in lowest 3pt % with 24%. They
also lead the league in total steals (50) and fouls (48).
* The Ol’ Dogs New Tricks definitely lived up to their namesake, being unable
to learn how to get a win before playoffs and losing to Dorns in My Side by
20 points. Brandon Cunningham and Marquis Hogue combined for more rebounds
than the whole other team combined (35). The team dominated defensively with
8 steals, and second chance opportunities with several offensive rebounds.
They had a balanced offense with 3 players scoring in double digits. Both
captains were missing in action, but Aaron’s team probably missed him more.
The Ol’ Dogs showed a bit of fight, by closing a 30 point deficit to within
10. Shout out to Jason Turner for not fouling out again.
