Week 2 Recap

Happy Wednesday!
Stats are live up to week 2. They’ve actually been live since Sunday night but I’ve been in a bad mood since Monday so I was avoiding my responsibilities until today 🤫
Hopefully you all wished Jacob Heuges a happy birthday yesterday! Or at least I hope his team did… A big thank you to him and Jackson for hosting one of our Livestreams this past week. Riveting stuff fellas. On that same note, we will be hosting some Captains+wives livestreams this season. Thank you to Ricky and Tori for joining us on stream. Check out our instagram to see some snippets or head over to Twitch or YouTube to watch the full videos.
Reminders:
There are NO GAMES this coming Sunday. Also, I have a pair of headphones and a red/white jersey. If those are yours, please let me know and I will bring them to week 3’s games. Or you can come pick it up if you would like them sooner.
Pizza Party!
Most of the captains and myself will be eating some Pizza on Monday, May 13th at 6:30pm at Round Table Pizza! RSVP by Saturday or we will not have enough pizza to feed you.
Week 2 Recap:
  • Unsatisfied with scoring under 20 last week, Nathan Brummett torched the StKs for 26 points on 58.8% shooting
  • Ethan Spence was the sharpshooter for the evening, hitting 3/4 from deep, shooting 80% from the field overall
  • Despite running a full marathon in Wisconsin the day before, Colling Day was able to retain his rebounding title, pulling down 11 rebounds to lead the league.
  • Sawyer McKenzie was looking quite spry this past week, rejecting the ball 4 times to go along with 4 assists to lead the league in both categories
  • On the same team, Zack Pierce managed to nab the crown from Ryno Moore by tallying a season high 5 steals!
  • The J’s are still looking for their first win after a tough loss to the dark horse HHH team. Tyler Bernth was able to hit a 3 again which may be the spark his team needs to get a win in their next matchup. Weirdly enough, Tyler also missed 2 free throws. Jacob Heuges started the game shooting hot, but their defense was unable to stop the size of HHH. Noah Saedi and Nathan Saedi shook off a rough offensive outing during their first game to contribute a combined 19 points to go along with some tenacious defense. Carlos Martinez contributed across the board as well to help his team to victory in week 2.
  • The Knights are looking like the favorite to win this season and hope to break Jacob Brummett’s championship drought behind Nathan Brummett‘s season high 26 points. Ryno Moore was one assist shy of getting a 4×4. The StK suffered two injuries but both players have indicated that they should be good to go with the extra week of rest. Brandon Porras was a welcome sight after missing the first game, but the team struggled to find offense outside of his 15 points and had no answers for Nathan. But at least they didn’t get dunked on.
  • Game 3 was a close game with Sawyer McKenzie‘s team pulling off the victory. Run came out shooting lights out, totaling 11 makes from behind the arc. Joshua LePenske, Ethan Spence, and Sawyer McKenzie each hit 3 from deep and they managed to hold on to the lead despite a furious rally from SJ96. Despite a balanced attack with 3 players scoring in double digits, they were unable to pull off the comeback victory. Lacey Naylor dazzled us with some nice handles and Marquis Hogue scared us with some loud screaming.
  • As a league, our percentages all went up, but we only scored 10 more total points compared to last week. The J’s and Knights will hope to improve their efficiency as they sit dead last in shooting percentage, with the J’s shooting 28.4% from the field and 33% from the charity stripe, and the Knights shooting 15.8% from deep. Run are leading all teams by a healthy margin in 3pt attempts at 49, but only have 3 more made 3s compared to HHH and SJ96.
